Why the Annual Well Woman Exam Matters
Women’s health needs change over time and often involve many different factors. Hormones, reproductive health, heart health, bone strength, and emotional well-being all play a role and a well-woman exam brings everything together in one focused visit to make sure nothing is overlooked.
Many conditions that affect women most cervical cancer, breast cancer, osteoporosis, thyroid disease, and cardiovascular disease are far more manageable when caught early through routine well woman health screenings. Skipping annual exams does not mean nothing is happening. It means nothing is being caught.

What Is Included in a Well Woman Exam
Our well woman clinic visit is comprehensive covering every aspect of your health that matters at your specific stage of life. No two exams look exactly alike because no two patients are the same.
We review your full medical, reproductive, and family history including menstrual health, pregnancy history, contraception use, prior surgeries, chronic conditions, and any symptoms you have been experiencing. This gives us a complete picture before the physical examination begins.
A thorough head-to-toe physical examination covers vital signs, blood pressure, weight, BMI, thyroid, abdomen, and cardiovascular health. A pelvic exam is performed when clinically indicated based on your age and health history.
We perform Pap smears and HPV co-testing in line with current clinical guidelines — every 3 years for women aged 21–65, or every 5 years with combined HPV testing. We review your results with you directly and explain what they mean for your ongoing cervical health.
We conduct a clinical breast exam and assess your personal and family risk for breast cancer. Based on your risk profile and age, we provide guidance on mammography scheduling and refer you for imaging when appropriate.
We address menstrual irregularities, contraception, family planning, perimenopause, and menopause in a comfortable, open conversation. Hormonal concerns — including mood changes, fatigue, weight shifts, and libido — are taken seriously and discussed with clinical depth.
Confidential STI testing is available as part of your well woman visit. We screen based on your individual risk factors and provide results and next steps in a straightforward, non-judgmental manner.
We order age-appropriate lab work including a complete blood count, comprehensive metabolic panel, thyroid function, cholesterol, blood glucose, vitamin D, and iron levels. Lab results are reviewed with you at follow-up and integrated into your ongoing care plan.
Bone density loss accelerates after menopause and often goes undetected until a fracture occurs. We assess your bone health risk and refer for DEXA scanning when clinically indicated, along with guidance on calcium, vitamin D, and lifestyle factors that protect bone density.
